SLA@SOI

Welcome to the SLA@SOI Project Newsletter.

In this, our inaugural issue, we briefly introduce some of the fundamentals of our project.
Dr. Wolfgang Theilmann, our project coordinator, begins proceedings by sharing the SLA@SOI vision. This is being realised by an extensive body of work divided into numerous work packages – these are all also briefly introduced. The members of the SLA@SOI consortium are presented, with partner profiles in this issue describing both XLAB and SAP.
Following this we change track a little and provide an overview of selected technical aspects. We explain what is in an SLA, introduce one of the key relevant standards, OVF, and describe fundamentals of the messaging components in our evolving infrastructure management layer.
This newsletter issue also includes an event calendar illustrating conferences, workshops and other activities that are potentially relevant to SLA@SOI. Our latest project news is summarised, and we conclude with a brief synopsis of projects progress to date.

We hope you find this newsletter format useful, and welcome any and all feedback. If you have any questions, suggestions or even requested topics for future versions of this newsletter, please do let us know.
